North Georgia Counties We Serve
Sitting at the southern tip of the Appalachian Mountains, rural North Georgia has been hit particularly hard by the opioid epidemic. Access to treatment and recovery services is very limited, underscoring the importance of comprehensive initiatives focused on the prevention of opioid use disorders and opioid overdose.
Further, the CDC has ranked Fannin County as one of the most vulnerable counties at risk of an HIV and/or Hepatitis C outbreak as a result of the opioid epidemic in Georgia. The criteria, which were compared among Georgia counties and named Fannin County in the 95th percentile, included percentages of death by drug-overdose, prescription opioid sales, per capita income, white and non-Hispanic race/ethnicity residents, unemployment, and buprenorphine prescribing potential.
