Georgia Overdose Prevention provides free training presentations for people struggling with substance use or are in recovery. Training presentations include information about naloxone and Georgia’s 911 Medical Amnesty and Expanded Naloxone Access Law. A Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) endorsed project that is geared towards increasing healthcare providers’ knowledge and skills in the prevention, identification, and evidenced-based treatment of opioid use disorders, through a variety of trainings and a clinical mentoring program. Health professional can access a repository of training materials and educational resources at the PCSS website. Many of the trainings are free and offer Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits.

A free 3.5-hour, self-paced online course that is offered by University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Nursing and Health Studies. Learners take part in an interactive orientation on SBIRT (screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment for substance use), applying their learning through interactive games, case scenarios, and quizzes to develop their knowledge, skills, and abilities in using SBIRT with patients. This course offers 3.5 contact hours of free continuing education for nursing, social work, and counseling professionals (CME, CDE, CNE, NASW, CHES, NAADAC, and NBCC). Free interactive online trainings developed by the CDC to help healthcare providers apply CDC recommendations in clinical settings. Through patient scenarios, videos, knowledge checks, tips, and resources, providers can become more knowledgeable about CDC’s recommendations, the risks and benefits of prescription opioids, nonopioid treatment options, patient communication, and risk mitigation.
